YOUNG JEEZY’S USDA DEBUTS AT #1 ON BILLBOARD TOP R&B/HIP-HOP ALBUMS CHARTJune 2, 2007 at 11:20 pm | Posted in Hip Hop News/Press Releases | Leave a comment
Driven largely by a massive street and online buzz, Young Jeezy Presents USDA: Cold Summer “The Authorized Mixtape” – the first release from Jeezy’s CTE co-venture with the Island Def Jam Music Group – debuted at #1 on both the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart and the Billboard Top Rap Albums Chart this week, with over 95,000 copies sold. Cold Summer debuted on the Billboard 200 Album Chart at #4.
USDA – Jeezy, ATL spitter Slick Pulla and
Panama City’s Blood Raw – were featured on the cover of the June issue of street bible XXL Magazine, and spent much of the spring on the road, performing during Jeezy’s headlining slot on the national Street Dream Tour. In addition, a “USDA TV” channel was launched on YouTube and was supplemented by an aggressive viral internet marketing campaign.
“We’re thrilled with the success of our first release, Cold Summer,” said CTE president and CEO Demetrius “Kinky B” Ellerbee. “It’s a great start to our partnership with IDJ, and a sign of more hot music and successful releases to come.”
It’s an exciting time for Young Jeezy: he has just launched his Rocawear-distributed clothing line, Eighty Seven Thirty Two (8732). His sophomore album The Inspiration has pushed past platinum status and is out-selling nearly every rap album on the charts. The Inspiration’s third single, “Dreamin’” featuring Keyshia Cole, continues to grow at radio stations across the country.
